I'm back........and then I was gone again!

This is me trying to look like a salty old sea dog!

Hello everyone, I'm back, but only briefly!  When we got home yesterday we heard that Ganny's sister, who is 85 (Mum's most favourite Aunt) has had a fall and is in hospital with ten stitches in her head. She's stable and hopefully will be allowed home mid week, but Ganny is worrying and also doesn't like driving to the hospital, so I thought I we had better visit, like the knight in furry armour  that I am......

We all had a lovely holiday and I look forward to telling you about that next week (we hope to be home 29/9)

This is me when we got home last night with the Honktypus Other Mum bought me for being a very good boy on holiday! As you can see I was shattered with all that navigating I had to do for Mum.... At least she knows the way to Ganny's so I'll be able to have a kip on the way down there.....

See you next week everyone

One More Sleep To Go........

I'm very excited as I'm off on my holidays tomorrow! We are going to North Wales and staying in a little fishing town not far from Portmeirion. You may have heard of it as it is famous for the china that was originally produced there.

The building of the village began in 1925 and is based on Portofino in Italy - pretty odd for a village in Wales! For those of you who are old enough (!) it was also the setting for the1960's TV show The Prisoner starring Patrick McGoohan. Anyway enough of this history stuff!

I have been trying to get my packing done all week - it's so hard to know what to take.....

Can you see the fiver Ganny has sent for my holiday?!

I'm sure I need loads more than this. I have the essentials like my snorkel and mask and my crab line, but even so.....

Mum.... don't forget my blankets and bed and pillows....and my first aid kit and fresh wipes and my bowls and stand..... I'll just lie here and supervise shall I? What do you mean there isn't room for your stuff?

I'll leave you with a picture of Harlech Castle, which apparently we can see from our cottage garden. I expect this will be another holiday involving lots of bl**dy castles.   *sigh*

All the best everyone and I'll see you in a couple of weeks!

Spot the Difference......

Can you spot the difference?

You can't can you?

And do you know why?

It's because Puddles and I are Greyhound identical twins!

Mum has been uncharacteristically  well organised and has got me some posts lined up for this week, however please forgive me if I'm not around commenting very much. We are off on our holiday at the end of the week and Mum says there is lots to do. Having just seen the pile of ironing (that gives 'The Shard' a run for its money) I get what's she's saying........ Have a great week everyone!

Deccy's Day Trips 2

Last week me and the Mums went on a trip to Ampleforth Abbey and College in North Yorkshire.

Since 1802 the Abbey has been the home to the largest community of Benedictine monks in Britain. The Monks teach at Ampleforth College; one of Britain's premier Catholic public schools (for our overseas readers, for public read private though it is a bit more complicated than that!)

The main building of Ampleforth College.

The Abbey and school are set in over 2000 acres. Visitors (including dogs!) are allowed to enjoy much of the grounds.

This is a view towards the playing fields. Most of the land you can see belongs to the Abbey

The Abbey Church

St Benedict - he was born in Italy in 480AD

That's better; a photo with me in it!
(Mum says to tell you I am not really being strangled by my lead....)

This is a tree in front of the Abbey. I am only including it because Other Mum likes it.......

Look good don't I?....if not a little sleepy.

This is me at the entrance to one of the Abbey's farm fields where wheat was growing.

After we'd had a look around, Mum said she wanted to go into the gift shop to buy something for one of her friends who is  Roman Catholic, so Other Mum & I sat outside like lemons. I happen to know that the monks have apple orchards growing over 40 varieties of apple and produce cider and apple brandy which they sell.......in the gift shop. I stood in front of the sign saying "free tasting" so Other Mum didn't see it. You owe me Mum!

A suspiciously long Some time later Mum reappeared full of cider brandy bonhomie and told of meeting a monk called Jerome who was working in the shop. Apparently he had been singing to himself  in Latin, when Mum arrived. Makes a change from will.i.am I suppose!

Fortunately Mum did remember to buy a St Benedict's medal for her friend to cover her tracks.

As if the day hadn't been nice enough, can you guess what we did on the way home? Of course you can!!

Yep, it was that first ice cream cone moment I told you about!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Monday again.........

Ahhhhhhhh.......morning everyone. Is it really Monday already? Where are you Mum? I need my chest slapped and a quick game of Mr Crocodile* before I can consider getting up.......

I must tell you that I had a lovely time at Ganny's. The weather was pretty good, so I did quite a lot of relaxing....and not much else!

Pigs ears should always be carefully inspected.
And tested for crunchability
I can see you getting closer Mum.... you are not having any of my ear!

That's better, you stand the other side of the flowers.... nom nom nom.....

Ganny always buys the best pigs ears! Sometimes she manages to get me Sows ears which are HUGE! Are you listening Mums? Ganny does much better than you on the treat front. I love you Ganny.........

Anyway it's back home now. I suppose I have missed my sofa....

I do all my best thinking here you know......

And that reminds me... I'd like to bring your attention to Deccy's Deals! This really only applies to my UK readers, so everyone else might want to quit now and move on to the next blog!!

Lately I've been sent lots of codes and vouchers for various shops like Debenhams and Sainsburys. Some of the deals are pretty good, so I thought I'd share them with you. If you look at the top of my page, you'll see the Deccy's Deals tab. Just click  to see the latest offers. The page will be updated regularly, so it's worth checking out. Every little helps as someone keeps telling us!

* Mr Crocodile involves me lying on my back and Mum slapping my chest while I make my neck extra long and reach up to try and bite arms (in a gentle and loving way, obviously........)
