Big Boy's Bath Bonanza!
I've just got back from my trip to Ganny's. As ever, I had a pretty good time, even though the weather was rubbish.
Mostly it was like this.....
With a bit of this....
And then more of this....
We did, however, have one nice day. Great, I thought, I expect we'll do something REALLY exciting. I began to feel less optimistic when this appeared on the lawn....
The following pictures are courtesy of Aunty Lou, who I thought loved me, but is clearly as big a traitor as Mum.
Steady on Mum, that's gone right down my lug 'ole!
That's a scouring pad she's using on my chops; someone should report her...
Now you've just gone too far.....
Perhaps if I sneak off over here she won't notice....
Bu*g*r!
Ooooh that tickles!
Now this I like!
And one final shake should do it.....
Ganny said that I was such a good boy
Every cloud has a silver lining.... hehe!

Deccy's First Gotcha Day!
This was taken at Monmore Green Retired Greyhound Trust before we ever met Deccy. In fact it was this picture that made us go and see him! Well who could resist?! We didn't know until later that he was Flynn's Great-Nephew. We decided it was fate that we should have him!
We met him on a Sunday and agreed to have him on a weeks trial starting on the Wednesday. On the Friday I discovered a small lump on his tummy that I thought should be checked out, so took him back to the rescue kennels. They wanted their vet to check him so I arranged to meet them at the track on Monday. Over the weekend, a few people expressed concern that it might be the beginning of something serious or cost a lot of money long term. We couldn't possibly be that attached to him yet, so maybe he should go back and we should look for another dog? It was then that we knew he was ours. It is testament to what a lovely affectionate dog he is, that less than a week in and we wouldn't have given him up for the world! The lump turned out to be an umbilical hernia, which is very common, and was rectified by a small operation organised by Monmore Greyhound Trust.
Taken Sunday 3rd July 2011 at our very first meeting. Not that he seemed that impressed with us!
Dec with Dom - the first Greyhound friend he made after kennels.
On his first holiday in Northumberland. He was singularly unimpressed with the beach. (Beryl would think he is such a wuss!)
His first Christmas.
Come February, love was in the air!.......
Deccy and Beryl on their first date on St. Patrick's Day
His 5th birthday in May was celebrated in his own inimitable style!
We've had our ups and downs, but he's come a long way in a year. Of course there is still the somewhat sticky issue of KC. For those of you who don't know, Deccy came to us having passed his "cat test" in kennels. We can only assume that he was very soundly asleep or drugged when they let a cat anywhere near him!
In reality, I don't think this will ever happen, but he is a lot less reactive than he once was.....
Some of you will remember this "unfortunate little incident" ahem....
A very happy Gotcha Day to our boy Dec! A few days in and we couldn't bear the thought of not keeping you. 1 year on and life without you is unimaginable. We love you very much mate!

Awards
First of all I just want to wish my American pals a very happy Independence Day!
I hope that you all have a great holiday!
We Mum is very very bad when it comes to awards, so we'll make a general apology for that now with absolutely no promise of getting any better! I Mum would completely understand if we never receive another one because we Mum is so rubbish at following the conditions. Anyway, whilst we are away at Ganny's I have left instructions for Other Mum (who is sooooo much more reliable) to at least thank everyone for our embarrassingly old recent awards.
I hope that you all have a great holiday!
Thanks to Sue & Aunty Song at Graceful Greyhounds for the Leibster Blog Award. This is so long ago, Song & Sue probably won't remember giving it to us, but you did - honestly! We have received the award a few times before and we are fairly sure that we passed it on the first time so this is our excuse reason for not doing so again.
Thank you to Fred, Gloria and their Mum over at Basset Momma for the Pawsome Blogger Award. Again we have received this a few times so we are going to use the same old lame excuse have a good reason for not passing it on again!
Thank you to Barnie at BordoggyTerrier for the Sunshine Award. This is our first Sunshine Award so we haven't got a good excuse for not passing it on but everyone we know seems to have it. If you haven't then please do help yourself!
Now this is impressive as we only got this last week! Thank you very much to Molly the Wally for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Mum is completely out of excuses that only she would find acceptable anyway says that I might get away with must comply with some of the conditions, which are as follows: Share 7 things about yourself.
- Friday 6th July is my first Gotcha Day
- My Dad, Grandad and Gt. Grandad had 11701 puppies between them! It's no wonder I'm related to so many of my blogging greyhound pals.
- I stand 28" to the shoulder and weigh 32kg (71 lb)
- I eat approximately 4.5kg (10 lbs) of kibble a week
- My racing name was Barrigone Bank and I had 61 races between March 2009 and my retirement on Valentines Day 2011
- My favourite place to sleep is my sofa
- My favourite treat is a pig's ear, but I do like Tuna Fudge too!
Me and some of that kibble!
I am supposed to pass this on to 15 people, but honestly, I know lots of you already have it and I really don't want to suggest that some of you are better than others, because you are all great to me! If you haven't got it and would like it, then please help yourselves.
I'll catch up with you all soon when I am back from Ganny's!

Eat More Sprouts!
Hello Everyone
As some of you know, I am hosting the Tuneful Farting Event at the Blogville Olympics 2012. Tuneful Farting will take place on 4th August and I will be accepting your entries between 9th July and midnight GMT on 18th July. Please remember that late entries cannot be considered. The event is open to all creatures great and small!
Lets face it, farting is funny, so get creative with your entry. We are unable to accept videos so your picture will need to capture the....ahem...essence of your tunefulness!
You may just want to send a picture of you or any of your friends letting one rip......
Is there no privacy in this place?..... Pervert!
Or maybe you'd like to draw a picture of you in the act..........
| This is what the love-puppy of Puddles and me would look like...not that's ever going to happen....obviously.... All pictures can be with or without captions. So everyone, please get practicing and have your cameras or crayons at the ready. Eat more sprouts and eggs and curries; do whatever it takes!
Remember send your entries to me between 9th and 18th July at declansdogsblog(AT)gmail(DOT)com
Please remember to include your name and blog address.
I am away at the computing black hole called Ganny's for a week from Monday 2nd July. Other Mum is in charge, but she probably won't have time to do a lot of commenting. I'm just hoping KC doesn't get her paws on my blog again!
