Welcome everyone to the Blogville Olympics 2012

 Tuneful Farting Event !! 

Tuneful Farting is a noble and ancient art, originally practised by greyhounds and their ancestors. Our breed can be traced back to 6000BC - so you see we have had a LOT of time to practice. By the 10th century we were (quite rightly) considered the dog of kings and nobility. In fact in Wales at that time, the killing of a Greyhound was punishable by death. I knew there was a good reason for going there for my holidays.....but I digress..

We worked with our masters to hunt stag and hare.(Not that I approve of that sort of thing, but try finding a Tescos 1000 years ago...) We are sighthounds so once we spotted our prey we needed to alert the huntsmen. Some breeds of dog barked to do this, but not us greyhounds; we FARTED! And not just any fart; there was a a plethera of different toots used to advise our humans. PHHAARRPP! meant "stag ahead and to the left". SHURRRUUMP! meant "hare under bush two trees hence"  So you can see how we learnt to be so prolific and tuneful, and thus the sport of Tuneful Farting was born.

The other thing I wanted to mention is Facebook. Now I know thousands of you out there have an account and it's no big deal..... but it really is a big deal for me! You see Mum hated, HATED Facebook (note the past tense here!) The trouble was, she had fallen into the trap of disliking something without really knowing enough about it... BAD Mum!

Mum used to work with some (and there is no way of being polite about this..) very stupid people. They would spend all day on Facebook leaving messages like "just had a cup of coffee" and "think I might cut my toenails later". When they weren't doing that, they spread malicious gossip about anyone they didn't like. Hence Mum decided Facebook was ridiculous and wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!

Other Mum was less closed minded about the whole thing and, along with me, has been gradually encouraging her to help me put a paw through the door. Well yesterday she finally cracked and now I have my very own Facebook account!! You can visit me there by clicking on the link below or on the badge in my sidebar

Mum has admitted that she really enjoyed helping me to get started and already I have over 20 friends...many of whom know me from Blogville. We've already chatted with Beryl's Mum,  Bunnies Mum, Solo & his mum & dad, Beckett from Home Is Where the Hounds Are, Nibs from Brindlehounds and my Aunty Lou! To be perfectly honest we don't really know what we're doing at the moment, but I think we'll get the hang of it and it might be a lot of fun. So... Mum has admitted that she might have been wrong. Well... there's a first! Declan Greyhound (finally) enters the 21st centuary. Yay!!

Practice Makes Perfect....!

Well, as you can see I am sleeping on the job training very hard for the Blogville Olympics 2012. I've entered 24 events with another one to go, plus the opening & closing ceremonies and the Parade of Athletes. Phew! It's no wonder I'm so tired!

Big Boy's Bath Bonanza!

I've just got back from my trip to Ganny's. As ever, I had a pretty good time, even though the weather was rubbish.

Mostly it was like this.....

We did, however, have one nice day. Great, I thought, I expect we'll do something REALLY exciting. I began to feel less optimistic when this appeared on the lawn....

The following pictures are courtesy of Aunty Lou, who I thought loved me, but is clearly as big a traitor as Mum.

Hello Everyone

As some of you know, I am hosting the Tuneful Farting Event at the Blogville Olympics 2012. Tuneful Farting will take place on 4th August and I will be accepting your entries between 9th July and midnight GMT on 18th July. Please remember that late entries cannot be considered. The event is open to all creatures great and small!

Lets face it, farting is funny, so get creative with your entry.We are unable to accept videos so your picture will need to capture the....ahem...essence of your tunefulness!

You may just want to send a picture of you or any of your friends letting one rip......

Is there no privacy in this place?..... Pervert!

Or perhaps picture manipulation is your thing!

Or maybe you'd like to draw a picture of you in the act..........

If they haven't already done so, all of the hosts will be posting before 9th July to let you know exactly what is required for their event, but basically it will be a photo and / or narrative. So for example, I am hosting  Tuneful Farting (well I am a Greyhound!) on Sat August 4th, and will require you to send photos (no videos please) of you...well... farting! It can be with or without a caption and feel free to photoshop to your hearts content if you can't squeeze a real one out hehe!  I'll post again with more details at a later date.

We are really hoping that you'll all join in. Chihuahua or Great Dane, Kitten or Tiger (blimey!) Terrapin or Giant Tortoise, Goldfish or Shark - we'd love to see you all there! (well I might be lying about the shark hehe!)

Now for the boring old rules bit! Each host will include their email address in their post for you to use and will start accepting your entry from 9th July However, what you've really got to remember is that all entries must be in by Midnight 18th July. (local time of the host) Not  a second later, no exceptions - you have been warned! And if you don't like it, you go and talk to Mayor Frankie Furter; he'll put you straight!
