New Sleeping Arrangements

As some of you will know ( because I go on about it a lot) I have to sleep downstairs at night. Now I think that most reasonable dogs, and humans for that matter, will not be able to believe that I am treated this badly. Most of you are probably about to send an email to Mums saying that people like them shouldn't be allowed to keep pets at all, let alone a delicate little thing like me... It could hardly be worse if they tied me up in the snow and left me outside all night......

Declan, you are in danger of sounding like a right drama-dog and if you are not careful you will loose the sympathy of your public - Mum

Well anyway.... the reason I have to sleep downstairs is because of ba**a*d cat the lovely KC. Our worlds are divided by the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs. It really isn't fair. Flynn got to sleep in Mums bedroom and have cuddles on the bed in the morning. In fact he spent most of the day on the bed when he got older. So why can't I do the same eh? Of course Flynn liked ba**a*d cat KC in a more best mate, less tasty snack kind of a way I suppose.

B*st**d Cat on the bed that should be mine.....

Declan this really isn't rocket science. If we let you come upstairs you have to guarantee not to eat KC, pin her to the wall, make her hang off the ceiling, or try and swallow her in one go before we notice. Can you manage that? No, I thought not. - Mum

Alright already! I am trying. I will sit down when Mum brings her into the sitting room now - as long as I'm distracted with 27 bags of treats. So maybe one day. I wonder how I ever passed my cat test? Drugs I imagine.

So, no chance of a promotion upstairs in the near future. My bed sits at the bottom of the stairs and generally over the summer this was ok.

As you can see, there is a radiator behind me and Mum started to worry, now that winter is here, that I might burn myself when it was on or that my poor little back would be cold when it was off. Anyway, after much thought Other Mum suggested we take a leaf out of Sue & Song's book and get me a nice big basket to put my bed in. (Song is my Aunty, you know!)

Hmmm... this is quite nice, but might I be a bit chilly......?

Better, but I still feel something is missing......

Ahhhh...... zzzzzzzz!

Well I still think Mums are a bit evil, but I suppose sleeping here isn't all that bad......

haha declan, you should be happy! some of Barbie's doggie-friends still have to sleep OUTSIDE THE HUMAN HOUSE! :P they have their own little houses outside of course, with beds in them, but really, who would want to be shut away from their humans like that? So really, Deccy, you got it goooood
Deccy, can you believe that I am made to sleep downstairs in the cold kitchen, without even the excuse of a b*st**d cat! But I do get given a hot water bottle every night, as if that makes it all OK...

We should set up a group to campaign for our rights mate! Deccy x
This entry is too adorable, really! Our Teddy has bedroom rights as he was here first and if anything our cat tries to eat him...
Oh, this made me laugh so hard. You are a clever one, Deccy...making lemonade out of those lemons.
Oh Deccy, I will still send off that letter of protest if you like! I'm glad they finally saw the light and at least got you one of those elevated beds, I mean, really, it's the least they could do! Why doesn't the cat take a turn downstairs so you can sleep in comfort?

You're related to Song?! That is so cool!

Does it get lonely at night being all by yourself? When Beth didn't like being moved too much at the end, we all slept on the couch downstairs next to her. You could always suggest that :) At least you got a cool bed out of it. Still looking for one like that in the States.
Your cousin Joey has chosen to sleep in the living room by himself at night. Scout sometimes joins him. I guess Joey is a little independent. It doesn't seem fair that you have to stay downstairs, but kitties are not to be eaten. I think once you prove that you can be good, you will get to move upstairs. You definitely look nice and cozy in your new bed. I love the last photo.

Mum says she wishes some of Joey's independence would rub off on me! I'm a bit 'clingy' apparently, whatever that means. I expect it's a compliment.... Deccy x
Deccy you are adorable! Well done on your cat progression! Remember it took my mummie and daddie 4 months to stop Ambam from trying to kill stinkykitty #1! Keep going with it! You're a good hound! xxx

Yeah thanks Cuz! Mum says I should look to Ambam for inspiration all the time! Deccy x
Hi Deccy, here's the deal. I like cats so get your evil mum to ship the bas-a-d cat over here. With four of us, we'll train it and then ship it back to you. Sound like a deal?

You're on! Now where is the brown paper and Sellotape....... Deccy x
That is a bit of a bummer Deccy. It sounds like you are making some progress with the cat though. I like you new bed, it's kind of hard to find beds like that over here. I also really like your pjs, the ones that are a sage green with the red tie. Where did you get that? Zephyr and Astro are wearing their fleece jackets at night but they don't have as much coverage. I think they would love something like yours.

Thank you. It's actually a handmedown from Uncle Flynn and really old! It's only a jacket too, maybe it looks more substantial due to the angle I'm lying at? When Mum got Flynn, the wife of one of the guys at his racing kennels gave it to him. I think she made them to raise money for retired hounds. Deccy x ps. You can get a bed like mine at Amazon.com!
Do you use your tail as a whip!! We don't have tails! Butt we think you look comfy and cozy in your bed all covered up!!

-Bart and Ruby
Hi Nephew:) Glad your mum has taken a hint from my bed and got you one. Aren't they so comfortable and easy for your mum to wipe over. You are so lucky to have yours right by a radiator( hint, hint to my mum) .

Like you I don't like cats. I would love to chase them, Don't think I'd ever have passed the cat test.

Sleep well in your lovely bed.
What a brilliant bed!!

I had no idea you were related to the lovely Song - no wonder you are an expert on comfy sleeping positions.

(I am with you on the whole B**t*d cat thing..... Grrrr!!! They know better than to try and make me share space with one).

Love and licks, Winnie
Hi Deccy, those bloomin cats have a lot to answer for don't they. Our Penny gets to sleep on whatever bed she wants! Can you believe it? She has a choice of four different beds!! If Rory so much as touches his bottom on the couch he gets pushed off. Blimey. No wonder we like to chase her hehehe. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory P.S. Your bed looks very snuggly.
I feel your pain, my friend. I share a home with TWO cats! They are bossy and sneaky if you ask me!

Your pal, Pip

P.S.: Your bed does look very comfy cozy!
WE cover our pups up at night too :)

I'm glad you get tucked in at night Deccy. It's the least they can do given the blatent unfairness of the whole sleeping situation. The VERY least. You might want to hold out for a piggy ear or something too.
All are saying the same thing repeatedly, but in your blog I had a chance to get some useful and unique information, I love your writing style very much, I would like to suggest your blog in my dude circle, so keep on updates.
